About me

Vic Valenzuela

Originally from Mexico, now an Icelandic citizen based in Reykjavík. I'm helping build dala.care, a workforce management platform for home healthcare providers. Before that I built iOS apps for prosthetic knees at Össur, audio streaming for CBS Radio, and security systems for Sotheby's.

These days I work mostly in Go and React, designing the systems that connect caregivers and care recipients. I also set up infrastructure on AWS and occasionally still get my hands dirty with mobile when needed. AWS Solutions Architect certified.

I ship side projects that scratch real itches. Fundið is a lost & found app for Iceland. Memento Vault is an open-source knowledge capture system.

I'm deep into agentic development right now. 25+ custom Claude Code skills, orchestration tooling, a knowledge vault that gives AI agents institutional memory. Making AI-assisted engineering actually useful, not just a demo.

When I'm not coding, I'm probably deep into a board game, in the kitchen, or walking Miles (long hair mini dachshund, very important team member).

What I'm into

Board games. Heavy euros, thematic dungeon crawlers, anything with interesting decisions. Always looking for people to play with in Reykjavík.

Tabletop RPGs. Running and playing. The overlap of storytelling, improv, and system design keeps pulling me back.

Cooking. I treat the kitchen like a codebase: iterate fast, taste often, occasionally produce something genuinely great. Latin roots, Icelandic ingredients, whatever catches my eye.
